June 3, 1947: Ash Grove Wreck. The worst wreck in Monon Diesel history.

June 24, 1854: Last spike driven on the New Albany and Salem near Putnamville.

June 28, 1949: Last CI&L steam removed from service. Monon completely dieselized.

July 3, 1854: First NA&S train from Michigan City to New Albany.

July 10, 1863: Morgan's Raiders attack LNA&C near Salem.

July 30, 1971: Monon Railroad merged into the L&N RR.

July 31, 1847: New Albany & Salem Rail Road Company organized.

September 17, 1951: Train #5 destroys Monon, IN depot.

September 30, 1967: Train #6 arrives in Chicago with last Monon passenger train.

October 1, 1907: Indianapolis & Louisville completed Wallace Junction to Victoria, IN.

October 14, 1943: Partial abandonment of the Bedford & Bloomfield Branch.

October 15, 1935: Bedford & Bloomfield abandons Switz City to Avoca.

November 9, 1874: Bedford, Springville, Owensburg & Bloomfield RR incorporated.

November 24, 1939: Future Icon Frank "Frankie Monon" Van Bree Born.

December 15, 1881 LNA&C Board votes to merge with the ID&C, although ID&C continued operating independently until 2/1/1883.
