Brief Committee Descriptions And Functions Archives Committee: This committee oversees the archives at our Linden World Headquarters. They also procure Monon related documents and artifacts. A data base is currently in the process of being made of all the maps, drawings and documents on file in the Archives. Computer Committee and Web Site: The computer committee oversees the Web Site: www.monon.org and all other aspects of the digital Monon Railroad Historical-Technical Society, Inc. Work is being done to offer the entire Monon Railroad in Train Simulator. The Monon Railroad Historical-Technical Society Inc's web site is responsible to preserve the history and legacy of the Monon Railroad on the Internet. Company Store: The marketing and sale of all things Monon. Model kits, books, videos and DVD's, photo CD, music to convention coffee mugs. Any product that the Monon Railroad Historical-Technical Society sells, the Company Store is responsible for. You can also shop on-line at www.mononstores.com Convention Committee: This committe has the task to put together the annual meeting and convention. From setting the dates, securing a host city and organizing activities. The fun you have at convention is because of their hard work for months. Equipment Procurement Committee: This department is responsible for trying to locate former-Monon engines, rolling stock and other significant hardware for the purpose of recording their location and status and for possible acquisition by the Monon Society. Anyone who has information about former-Monon equipment is encouraged to contact this department. This committee has the nick name "Black Ops." We have no idea why. Equipment Restoration Committee: This committee is charged with the many restoration of Monon rolling stock and artifacts that the Society has been able to aquire. Whether for static display or operation, this committee makes sure the job gets done correctly. Results of their efforts are on display at Linden, French Lick and the Indiana Transportation Museum. Linden Museum Grants: This committee works in conjunction with the Linden Depot Museum to help obtain grants to complete the many projects on going. Membership: This committee sees to the processing of memberships. From processing new members to renewals. This committee makes sure membership cards are distributed each year. Model Kits Committee: For many years now the Monon Railroad Historical-Technical Society has offered a model kit of prototype Monon rolling stock. This committee oversees the decision on what kit will be produced. They research and provide photographs and information to the manufactures so we can sell accurate Monon rolling stock. Monon Memorial At Bloomington: This committee was established to approach the City Of Bloomington with the notion to place a monument to honor all Monon workers somewhere along the Rails to Trails project. The committe was successful in getting a site for the Memorial near the old depot location. We are currently accepting donations for the memorial. To contribute, visit: Monon Memorial At Bloomington Monon Past Personnel Committe: This committee is currently building a comprehensive data base of those who worked for the Monon Railroad. When the Monon merged, much of the employment records were lost. Little by little we are getting information and images of former Monon employees. Photo Archives: The preservation of the Monon in photographs. The role of this committee is to catalog photos and organize them into a searchable form. Most of the photos we presently have in our Photo Archive have been digitalized and soon you will be able to search through a CD of thumbnail images for Monon photos. Publication Committee: This committee is responsible for getting our official newletter The Hoosier Line out. The THL contains atricles on the Monon Railroad from modeling, operations and all things Monon. This committee also solicits and designs the calandar that all members receive in November. Monon Memories Committee: This committee is gathering and recording memories of the Monon Railroad form many sources. The Monon Memory Of The Month is a feature here at www.monon.org. |
