The Salem Depot Expansion Project

Ground Breaking Date Set

After approval of a 21 year lease by the Board Of Directors of the Monon Railroad Historical-Technical Society, Inc., the groundbreaking ceremony for the new addition to The Depot railroad museum will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9 -- the first day of The Depot's two-day 11th anniversary celebration.

Representatives of the Washington County Historical Society and the Monon Railroad Historical Society will be present. The Monon Society, under a 21-year lease agreement with the Washington County Historical Society, will occupy a portion of the basement level of the new addition, but will also have full use of The Depot building.

Also expected to attend the ceremony are Mayor David Bower, city officials and the general public.
