I was in the Bloomington High School Class of 64. BHS South opened in 1966. BHSS proudfully took our colors (purple & white), our mascot (panthers) and our legacy. I spent 6 years at "Good Ole BHS" ( It was also a junior high back then for those of you getting ready to comment.). The Monon Railroad was immediately adjacent to the school grounds. There was a siding that at one time had been used for the Monon to deliver coal to the massive boilers in the power plant. I remember many boring lectures being temporarily suspended as train crossed along side the campus, horns blaring.
Bloomington High School sits on the hill to the east of McDoel Yards. The school has sat there and watched as the Monon left town.
"Now here's to you our dear old BHS"
