"WHQ Before"
Before Photo 1: South side of the building. Before Photo 2: Front of the building.
Before Photo 3: The back side of the building.
Picture 1 Left: The calm before the storm. Outside work was put on hold while a storm passed through Linden. Look at the front of WHQ before a freak lightening bolt targeted the apple tree close to the building. Picture 2 Right: After the strike, well you might as well take the tree down. As luck would have it Black Ops Heggi just happened to have a chain saw and tow straps to make sure that when the tree fell, it fell away from the building.
Picture 3 Left: President Van Bree arrives and look, he did bring a cooler full of beer. He explained it as "showing all the members that I did indeed buy beer for everyone." (After the photo was taken, he snapped the lock back on the cooler.) Picture 4 Right: After making sure all were working, Frank decided to test pilot one of the wooden chairs donated by Cookie. You know Frank, I don't recall seeing that duty on the list.
Picture 5 Left: President Van Bree presenting Cookie a Presidential Budweiser for his donation of the two chairs. Picture 6 Right: Serious moment. Frank presents Cookie with an engraved nameplate, that duplicates will soon adorn the two chairs donated by Cookie.
Picture 7 Left: Cookie and Frank watch over the work detail from the Memorial Brick Plaza. By the way, there are still many bricks that need to be purchased and your special memorial added. Visit the Company Store and order your brick today. Picture 8 Right: Plenty of work was done to the building and grounds. The outdoor crew included, Kevin "Black Ops" Heggi, Joe Land, Ryan "Diamond Boy" Kertis and Keith Greasby Jr., a new member of the Society. Welcome Keith.
Picture 9 Left: New sign on the front door. Picture 10 Right: Black Ops proves he can handle power equipment. Besides the chainsaw, he is also comfortable with you friendly power washer. Here he cleans the sidewalk.
Picture 11 Left: Tom Rankin and Don Kaegebein relax for a few moments. Rumor has it Tom was really hiding from Pam. Picture 12 Right: Tables piled with archives material kept Cookie busy while Don Kaegebein helps Jim Davis and Tim Walter move Stores inventory to the new store room.
Picture 13 Left: President Van Bree makes sure the outside crew is not slacking off. Picture 14 Right: Many Monon signs and or railroad signs were taken out of storage and hung on the sides of the building. Here you are looking at the north side of the WHQ.
Picture 15 Left: The south end of the building. Picture 16 Right: Mike Aufderheide and son organized the stuff stored inside box car 1620. Here they are closing up at the end of the day.
Picture 17 Left: The redesigned kitchen area. Less cluttered. Right: Yep, besides helping to organize the clean up, Pam left her mark on WHQ.
Thanks also to Chad Boas, who did remodeling work before the Saturday Clean Up. Chad's contributions were shorten the kitchen counter, moving the refrigerator and also relocating the bathroom. Thanks Chad for the effort.
